Could one of the reasons Jerusalem was been fought over… been that it is an important trade route from what was the ‘bread basket’ of the world Egypt to other countries….. so they didn’t have to go by ship. Even the fighting in Ukraine and Afghanistan… looks like advantageous trade routes from Europe to China….
