There is truth and there is honour… They are two distinctly different cultures. In the honour culture, when you interact outside the tribe.. lying is acceptable…. truth is important within the tribe. In the US… there was a dependence on truth…a handshake (a contract) probably because there were no tribes. If you look at the success of the US economically and socially… compared to other societies…. the truth society fared very well. Unfortunately the US is changing to groups…tribes.. and we are seeing what happens when lying takes place.
