  1. There is no reason why every country can’t refuse to use fossil fuel. They can each do an equivalent to Net Zero. They can eat bugs. They can ditch electricity, planes, cows, anything they want. That’s the most honest way to do it. The reason there is hand ringing, is because everyone wants certain countries consisting of tops 1 billion people, to pay for all this green infrastructure for 8 billion people. Sovereign nations should be paying their own infrastructure bills. Nobody works free. And if countries stop buying things from the Global North countries , the carbon will be reduced. Dictators can start switching to capitalism and make whatever they need, but they will have to pay for everything to be produced, and that will require fossil fuel, not solar panels. The only people who are sad about this, are the UN (won’t get their hands on all that money), and other countries that want someone else to pay THEIR bills. Meanwhile, the rich evil capitalist’s, Global North, will continue working, to come up with more efficient ways to use energy… and the rest of the world (Global South) just has to place the order, no investment necessary.
