  1. Each African country is a sovereign nation. They all can stop trading with the west and just trade with each other. However there are ethnic hostilities in each country and dictators running them. This is not just about the impact by the west….there is massive corruption within each African country. JS is pointing his finger at only one group of people… he is looking at the African countries as helpless children that can’t be expected to understand what is going on in their countries…5 yr.olds. They are, in fact, sophisticated countries, with college graduates, Ph.D.‘S, flying around the world in private jets, and giving lectures on Ted Talks. But their countries are dictatorships and they don’t want to change that. They would rather receive aid money so they can billionaires… which most of them are. JS leaves all of these details out of his discussions about victimized Africa.
