  1. One variable in this conversation on Europe that might help solve the question of a ‘federalized’ Europe… is who is in charge of each country. Not many sovereign nations voluntarily give up power. Europe was always independent competitive nations, with ‘temporary’ alliances. After two world wars…. did the ‘ chairs on the deck actually get shuffled around’. The Europeans lost millions of young men… but probably not the aristocratic class. They are probably (generations out) still in place with their power base… if so … it doesn’t seem they would give it up. They still have their wealth.
