America, like other nations, needs to make thing’s in their own countries or they can be blackmailed and lose their sovereignty. It’s important to bring some manufacturing back to the U.S. And the U.S. needs to manufacture all its food and medicine. Tariffs will help.

Yes, that happens too. I remember when Clinton made it easier for companies to leave because of that exact thing…high labor costs. Hopefully, there will be a balancing act, some critical manufacturing here, maybe some in close countries like Mexico, Canada and South America…where it could be somewhat monitored. Generic drugs can have harmful things thrown in, 90% of drug components came from China. That’s just not safe. I hope at least the food, drugs and steel could be brought back. I understand there are trade-offs.

@ yes I think you are right, competition is really important, no monopolies, but 90% of pharma compounds came from China preCOVID, that was a monopoly. It was impossible to check for quality control coming from China, and if you are dependent on certain drugs, the supply has to be uninterrupted and the ingredients exact. And it takes about 2 years to set up a manufacturing plant if you need one. Drugs save lives, and I trust US manufacturers more than other countries. But you are correct, monopolies don’t work, they become to powerful. Food and medicines, we can at least do that here in America.

Since China is in such a great position, could they please step up and give more financial help to the UN? The U.S. pays 25% of the UN’s budget, 17% of IMF and the World bank…giving out loans to ‘developing’ nations. The U.S. should not be giving anymore money out…most of those loans are never paid back. China is in a better position to give out money. Now that they are in charge of BRICS, hopefully they will give out more aid. The U.S. taxpayers need a break. Seventy five years is long enough. Let’s let China take the next seventy five! They are the superior nation.

The U.S. with 350,000,000 was never in a position to take care of 8Billion people. The purpose of the UN was to help other nations deter communism. It has proven impossible to contain…. because other countries embrace communism, and even if they don’t, the US can’t fight other countries wars…. they have to do it! A multipolar world was always going to happen. There is no way to stop it…with 8Billion people on the planet.

Yanis Varoufakis is a Marxist communist…he does not think outside that box. He does not believe in capitalism. He wants government to control what businesses produce, labor prices, and who gets loans for businesses. That is not thinking outside the box…it is plain old communism, that doesn’t work. and countries with communism don’t have flourishing economies…which is why they are constantly trying to get money from the U.S. .

BRICS will be perfect for the developing countries, led by China. China can provide aid and loans with no strings attached like the West does. And it will really be good for US taxpayer’s not to be burdened by billion’s in aid and loan’s going down the drain. BRICS will be a win for both sides.
