  2. On one hand, security guarantees are what have secured the ends of wars in the past. Very few wars end in one or more sides complete military defeat. Also, Putin is desperate for a win. One argument goes, "just give this old man a point so he can stop killing Ukrainians". On the other hand, the hand that I am more partial too, practicality does not erase the real pain Russia has caused in 2022. Not just for Ukrainian, not just for the average Russian, but for everyone in the world. This Russian act of imperialism can never truly be walked back and any concession given to try to do so will just justify the entire invasion for Putin. So yeah,... fuck the Kremlin.

  4. Many people like to drag Germany through the mud for their previous economic integration with Russian energy, but one culprit never seems to get the attention it deserves. France's view of a new world order with French hegemony has Russia integrated into the European Union with America as a distant ally. This ideal is the most dangerous part of French geopolitics.
