In WW2, the shot down both Allied and Nazi planes, while profiting by banking gold stolen from the victims of the Holocaust. During the Cold War, Switzerland was a faithful place for business for the blood money of Soviet/American backed dictators. This is exactly how neutral counties act. (Only Sweden & Ireland are exceptions.)

Currently, many red states have already shifted far-right along with greater GOP and the party's leader. So moderation, especially in Legislature and Congress, is more crucial than ever as we moving forward as nation. After Trump and the old guard are gone, the GOP will be forced to pivot -- hopefully towards a more balanced political spectrum.

Many former Soviet Bloc states are now doing much better economically. However, in places with poor governance and high corruption (Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria) you get oligarchy. Same can be said about East Germany. Capitalism is treated like a boogeyman, but corruption and poor policies are brushed aside.

With that being said, no near-peer adversary or major ally can realistically rival the United States' Armed Forces' logistical mastery; the key to efficiency in times of peace and war.

  52. As an African who grew up in post-Apartheid & post-Derg Africa, South Africa's (and Africa as a whole) messy gradual decline has been a tragedy that has eaten at me. I grew up in a time when South Africa hosted the World Cup, (flawed) democracy still existed in places like Ethiopia, and economic development was exponential. Now Africa is suffering from stagnation, democratic backsliding, coups, civil war, and a rise in neocolonialism. I hope the future gets better for South Africa in the long term.

The last execution was carried out in 1973. At least on paper. There is no one left to enforce except Bukele, himself. By the way, El Salvador voted in favor of the United Nations moratorium on the death penalty many times, most recently, in 2020.

I concede that the Pentagon's research funding and healthy competition in the defense sector has cratered. However, that does not mean the 21st century hasn't been full of groundbreaking American advancements. US leads in: AI warfare, hypersonic-glide weapons, high-hypersonic flight, six-generational capabilities, cutting-edge stealth, the M.O.A.B., military-grade lasers, submarine warfare, spatial warfare, mastery of combined arms warfare on every possible level, and smart weapon hegemony.
