  1. Current Middle Eastern politics is complicated, but it can be best summarized as a Cold War between Iran and Israel, backed by the US. The worst part is that Israel has secrets nukes, and Iran could acquire nuclear weapons w enough political will, too. (+In opposite corners are Erdogan's "neo-ottomanism" and Pakistan, a nuclear power, on the brink of collapse.)
