  1. Reminds me of the appeasement policy against Hitler. It's true that unearned concessions delayed the war until GB could mobilize, but all that did was emboldened Hitler and made Germany more powerful. Same story with the League's appeasement of Imperial Japan. All this made WW2 that much more deadly than WW1. Instead of appeasing Trump, the Machiavellian/Prince thing to do is to move closer with China while remaining strong and only giving token concessions (a la Mexico & Canada).
