That is a huge factor. The underlying hatred has always been a substantive issue and is a huge bargaining friction, too. Especially, as things have become more and more turbulent over the past few years.

Damn. That is really fucked up. People should not underestimate the far-right polarization of the Israeli Government as a factor that led to this war. Just look at the new National Security policies made by the literal fascist, Ben-Gvir.

If Iran really did cooperate with Hamas to at least a certain degree (as I assume), it would be plausible given the wider political shifts in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is pursuing peaceful relations with Israel AND Iran. Since the Iranian-Saudi Cold War is coming to an end, that frees up Iran to concentrate its proxies on its primary geopolitical opponent, Israel. At the very least, we already know that Hamas has been building up its arsenal with the help of Iran. Furthermore, these unconventional terrorist tactics of Hamas's attack are reminiscent of Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

That's what you don't understand. Hamas is NOT fighting for the Palestinian people or for Gaza's well-being. Hamas is ONLY fighting for itself and for an Islamic Revolution. The organization that is fighting for Palestinians is the PLO based in the West Bank.

@robclarkson3697 Your understanding is incorrect and is a product of propaganda. Palestinians have always supported a two-state solution that is fair. (The reason why they rejected the first UN two-state proposal was because it was very unfair to Palestine.) Many Palestinians and Israelis have tried to reach a lasting peace for decades now. It's extremists like Gaza's Hamas and Israel's Ben-Gvir that just want to violence.

Egypt is doing it because Hamas is a terrorist org and Egypt has been fighting a decades-long insurgency against terrorists based in the Sinai. If Hamas was able to enter the Sinai unchecked, then the mountainous terrain of the peninsula would become a safe haven for Hamas. But tunnels exist...
