  1. "Not Just Bikes" is a great channel for people that want to learn more about urban design on an international level! Also, the sad thing is that most countries experienced the 19th-century boom in car supply & demand that defined car-centric urbanization. But the biggest difference is that most countries have already long since started the work to make urban design pedestrian-friendly. So, it is America that is the biggest outlier. For example, "Not Just Bikes" used the Netherlands, and specifically Amsterdam, as an effective comparison to Houston.

  2. I am a new student in the field of architecture and have just now started learning more about urban design. It really saddens and disappoints me to look at why and how American streets were/are designed. More than anything, it is heartbreaking that, in a way, travel by car is prioritized and hyper-normalized over human lives.
