@wingkeungkong415 In 1999, London and Beijing reached an agreement on resolving the Hong Kong colony. Britain was finally going to end its empire & China was gonna get the city back after more than a century. Therefore, both sides agreed to set up terms that both (plus the IC) could compromise on. The most important compromise was the establishment of the Special Administrative Region that governed given that the "One Country, 2 Systems" policy would be RESPECTED FOR 50 years (until 2049). So, Hong Kong was supposed to retain its capitalist economic system, legal system, legislative system, and western human rights and freedoms. HOWEVER, to solidify its "One China" policy, Beijing broke almost every single agreement. So.. I guess.. the real question is what tf you are on??

@wingkeungkong415 ...Hey. Instead of creating these elaborate conspiracies, shouldn't you realize that you might be a tad bit too paranoid?

@wingkeungkong415 I thought I stated that I no longer wanted to debate w/ your convoluted theories. Just believe what you wish, I guess.

Honestly, calling Hong Kong a Chinese city leaves a bad taste in my mind.

@aidenng2602 How is that "not bad"? A lil freedom goes a long way....

@wingkeungkong415 Sike!!!!! In any event, it isn't humanitarian nor is it good optics for the mainland and the CCP.

@wingkeungkong415 I guess all I am saying is CCP needs to respect human & democratic rights especially if it signed a promise to do so (for at least 50 years). That is a very reasonable, bare-minimum expectation for a rising superpower.

@wingkeungkong415 You know absolutely nothing about civil unrest. If people are protesting for change, 9/10 those being are being oppressed in some way. Under the agreement Beijing + London signed over the transition of Hong Kong into China, the CCP legally swore to allow "self-determination" for the Hong Kong citizens. When Beijing started disregarding their rights, civil unrest started festering, leading to civil disobedience. This is also why BLM civil unrest rose up in 2020, because of police brutality & the killing of George Floyd. The point is oppression leads to civil unrest/disobedience.

@wingkeungkong415 Are you saying that is okay? Because the US oppressed black people, does that mean China can oppress ethnic minorities and their liberalized fellow Hong Kong citizens?? Human rights is unconditional and most equally be enforced. In fact, the US has had several civil rights reforms and amendments to the constitution. It had to come to deal with its darker history and present... that is all people are asking from China.

@wingkeungkong415 And you are the type to think that a forest is only made up of only 1 kind of tree.
