The civil unrest escalated in the Palestine Mandate; the UN proposed the agreement; then Palestine refused it because it would mean voluntary colonization; then with tensions high, unrest led to violence, and war broke out; then the Arab States mobilized to defend Palestine. The war wasn't against Israel's existence, but to reach a fair settlement for Palestinians & Arabs. More importantly, the Nakba (the Palestinian Holocaust/Catastrophe) DID NOT start or end in 1948. Palestinians were being ethnically cleansed by the Jewish people they called neighbors and friends since 1947 and before. Why do you think the UN had to propose the sloppy agreement in the first place?

  5. The Arab State only declared war because of the continued persecution of Palestinians by Jewish neighbors. The Nakba was the cause of the Israeli-Arab War of 48. The Nakba didn't just start on May 15th. It started long before the Arabs declared war. Any state would declare war after an act of war has been committed upon it.

  8. It's dangerous for a military to get tunnel vision and put all their eggs in one basket. It's even more dangerous for a government to lose sight of its responsibility to protect the people and maintain the peace. The Israeli people deserve better from their government. And the Palestinians deserve better from their unrequited neighbors.
