The members of the Rainbow Coalition's goal was to change this country so that there could be more equitable opportunities. That is the definition of direct, social democracy. So stop demonizing social democracy whenever marginalize groups are the ones doing it.

Meanwhile, Fred Hampton was a socialist that believed in a more hands-on, direct democracy. He also implemented social programs that help marginalized groups -- programs that evolved into Medicare and Social Security. Educate yourself before you try to speak.

  12.  @iraholden3606  Make no mistake. Fred Hampton was killed for his skin color and his ability to unite many different movements. Race was not a side issue but the main issue when talking about Civil Rights. The Rainbow Coalition he created was, first and foremost, an anti-racist, anti-class, multicultural organization that sought to change the current capitalistic system to also help the working and marginalized. Hampton was not killed because the US thought he was a Soviet spy, he was killed because the US saw him as a threat to its institutionalized, systemic oppression.

  16. I think that is a false narrative that comes from you not understanding how social democracies compare to revolutionary socialism. Also, he was not "radical". He went up against the US govt. for things that were are already supposed to be there. "Radical", huh. Makes me laugh.

  18.  @LilyArtemis14  First of all Democratic Socialism is a form of socialism that works with capitalism. It also a more equitable market to create an increase in opportunity with social programs meant to protect citizens. All, of course, are regulated by a democratically elected government. These are all things Canada has that makes it a Democratic Socialist state.
