  5. More like effective as long as they are handsomely compensated. Otherwise, they turn on you. And effective isn't true. Wagner only got results because they murdered all the civilians who opposed them and then imported Russian propaganda. Using a PMC in warfare is almost guaranteed to spectacularly backfire. Putin and Bush learned this the hard way.
