LMFAO. Trial and error can often be fatal

No surprise that the author is of European descent.

The British employed this strategy all across the world. The secret to why it works so well is broken promises.

Not really the most incredible. The Fall of Constantinople, the Fall of Berlin, the Fall of Rome, the Fall of Okinawa, the Mongol Conquests, and the Liberation of Din Bin Phu were far more epic than 400 Spaniards with plagues, guns, & horses giving false promises to very resentful subjects.

No matter the century, the location, or the politics, appeasement is always a slow spiral to doom and destruction. Moctezuma is often portrayed as a pacificist but his negligence directly led to the eradication of his people. If a foreign military unit strolls right into your territory to leverage unrest, you don't give them gold and invite them into your palace. If this was fiction, it would be cheap writing.

He was a criminal desperately fleeing the law even if that meant killing and raping thousands. He was no genius; divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book.

@javiersanchez67 Why are you not talking about the fact that Spaniards eradicated 75% of all Native Americans with disease? Why are you not talking about the fact that Spaniards raped so many Native American women, they made a whole new ethnicity? The Spanish colonizers were just as cruel as the British colonizers and ruled for longer.

If so it should be followed with the American occupation. (I think he already did the Japanese occupation.)

Alvarado: The only conquistador more evil than Hernan Cortes. It was he who instigated the siege by massacring those unarmed generals during an Aztec holiday.

How about you pick up a proper history book that doesn't treat you like a dumb ass? The Aztecs were like any other powerful empire at the time, then the Spanish colonizers came, turned their subjects against them, and then became the new overlords.

Not accurate. Mexicans aren't a monolith. Subjectively, you and many others might think that way. But many more are more connected to their Native or Spanish side. And many more can comfortably. denounce Spanish colonization while fully accepting the Spanish side of them.

@KestrelMB Stop rewriting history pal. Hernan Cortes is a mass murderer and a criminal who broke the laws of the Spanish Empire. 90% of Mexicans are Mestizo only because Hernan and his fellow colonizers mass-raped the Indigenous Aztecs, Mayans, Totonac, and more. The ethnicity, Mestizo, is literally the product of rape. And Hernan Cortez didn't liberate anyone. He and the Spanish Empire oppressed, enslaved, and killed millions more than the Aztec Empire.

@assistmans They weren't preventing interracial marriages because the Spanish loved to rape Native women and make them their slave wives. But the Spanish definitely were responsible for countless genocides. Educate yourself.

If it was that easy, then the Mongols would have wiped out humanity.

It's not famous because it's his own account of his own genocides where he glorifies himself and degrade the Natives.
