My favorite part of this series has been how you have asked and tried to answer very deep questions about the history of colonization and the way we modern humans living in the 21st century see it. Many people think the way the world is now was always meant to be and so the future is also meant to be in a certain way. This perspective is very tunnel-visioned. If just a few things were different, everything would be different in our modern day. So a few, well-position changes done today can make the future unrecognizable from the current trajectory of today, as well. Kudos, Johnny Harris.

  26. Hi, Tigrayan here. The difference is that the drones used in the Tigray War by the National Military were conventional warfare drones bought from Middle Eastern countries. Those drones were primarily used for recon and to bomb civilian population centers with impunity since the Tigray Defense Force was only an army, and were based in the mountains. In Ukraine, yes there are conventional warfare drones, but this video is about the jerryrigging of cheap commercial drones for warfare that is unique to the Ukraine War.

In fact, right now the World Cup is being hosted by Qatar, and the labor conditions, human rights abuses, and treatment of migrants are.... appalling to say the least. But nations of Europe who are deeply craving energy from non-Russia alternatives are looking the other way because they don't want to get on Qatar's side. It's slightly more complicated than this oversimplification, but that is the TLDR of it.

  57. Thank you for making this powerful video on this under-addressed history. Many people shy away from modern Balkan conflicts and modern conflicts in general fearing not upset the algorithm. But addressing human rights abuses and complex, nuanced, brutal wars (that just happened within the last 30 years) is incredibly important for anyone concerned with peace and universal rights. Also, I would very much appreciate a second part to this video on the Kosovo War & the subsequent NATO Intervention. It was a conflict just as brutal as the other Balkan Wars stemming directly from the collapse of Yugoslavia & The War in Bosnia. Plus, it highlights how the international community's, or at least NATO's, attitude changed throughout the 90s because of the Balkan Wars.

Lawmakers are essentially mocking and exploiting the fact that America functions as an indirect republic rather than a direct democracy. To makes matters even more complicated, there is so much ambiguity and nuance to the matter and no clear solutions that can realistically be implemented. "Should we allow Banks to fail or should the government have to always save them?" I have always wanted to say we should let banks fail; they need to learn how to survive wisely in a free market, and our societies need to learn to react to these situations better/less panic. However, the truth is I have realized that this is all much more (annoyingly) complex since societies aren't easily changed and capitalist governments should be responsible for protecting consumers.
