  1. And now with the Ukrainian-Russo War, China might bet that the U.S. is too preoccupied with NATO commitments. The government and military could see this as a vulnerable opening to catch the U.S. on the heels. Where would that put the pacific allies and bases like Guam, Okinawa, mainland Japan, South Korea, & Australia (even Philipines maybe)? EDIT/UPDATE: China has NOT taken advantage of that "opportunity". Probably because they are surprised by NATO's rejuvenated unity & US's commitment to focus on two opposite sides of Eurasia at the same. CCP might also be waiting for an even more "opportune" timing.
