  9.  @smartguy458  That is a very new version of the story. The Naiad Minthe was originally actually associated with Persephone, as the Despoina, all the way back during the Eleusinian Mysteries. This is because mint was used as a vital component in their psychedelic rituals. Therefore, the nymph actually predates Hades entirely. Most likely, any new retcon that tries to make it into an adulterous relationship has a special interest in demonizing Hades. Either way, the myth of Hades being unfaithful IS a retcon.

So that was probably a result of later writers trying to make Hades and Persephone look bad. It is basically, pre-Disney Disney.

Several authentic gospels and books were excluded, while perjuries like Timothy 1 & 2 made it into the canonical book. Not to mention all the original meaning(etymology) lost through millennia of translations. The faith runs deeper than just the 2,000 pages of the KJV.

  35. It's actually very common for religions to represent their gods as genderless or genderfluid. In the Abrahamic religions, most angels and demons are supposed to be ambiguously gendered. For example, Archangel Raphael is commonly portray as either a femboy or a woman. Hell, until Christianity rolled up, God wasn't even supposed to be a male figure but a being that is beyond gender and sex. Of course, this isn't translated into iconization because the followers of the 3 religions are very patriarchal in worship.

The fact that Athena was a virgin goddess does make it slightly better, but all she did was prove Arachne (and later on, Ovid) right. (BTW as a Christian, I poke at the inconsistencies and hypocrisy of the Abrahamic religions, too. Everything should be fair game if criticism comes from good faith.)

  49. 😂😂 It's not the same, tho. Odin actually loved Frigg (or is it Freya idk) and treated her like the Queen of Asgard she is, despite her being Vanir. Both Odin and Frigg were equally polyamorous but it was never portrayed as cheating on each other, at least not originally. (Some even gave her the epithet of All-Mother, although it was very uncommon.) Plus, Odin wasn't going around raping half of the Scandinavia. Unlike Zeus, Odin does NOT rape/abuse other Gods or mortals.

  52. It's pretty anticlimactic how the Ancient Greeks coming out of the dark ages chose to give Zeus plot armor to invalidate the same prophecy that acts as Zeus's legitimacy as rulers of divinity. Zeus, he who overthrew his tyrannical father and took his place. Well, it's not that bad, because Typhon wasn't Zeus's son. The prophecy says it will be one of his children that will overthrow him. But it still should have happened at some point or another.
