  1. Destroying a piece of art after losing a competition is pretty messed up even if she thought it was disrespectful and wasn't envious. The fact that Athena was a virgin goddess does make it slightly better, but all she did was prove Arachne (and later on, Ovid) right. (BTW as a Christian, I poke at the inconsistencies and hypocrisy of the Abrahamic religions, too. Everything should be fair game if criticism comes from good faith.)
