  6.  @acd6835  You miss the whole point of checks and balance. You can't expect a branch of government to police itself. The difference is that most other countries have a review board that can veto a Presidential pardon.

  9. It was originally meant to be a check against any potential miscarriage of justice. This was back when Washington was President and when the Presidency was much weaker, so I doubt the founders were too worried about a President abusing it too much. But in the 21st century, we definitely need an Amendment to fix this. In fact, we are going to need lots of Amendments to fix everything Trump breaks.
