  1. 9:00 What this video fails to mention that it isn't just about affordability, but also profitability. Corporate greed knows no bounds. That's the real problem. Whether it's inflation or price gouging or tariffs, companies always pass down the price to consumer while raking in record profits. Most problems won't change until corporate greed is contained, and that's not possible unless lobbying is contained.

It was both an interstate war with Eritrea and a civil war between the Tigray Defense Force and the National Defense Force.   10. Collectivism in Japan is usually a positive. However, not when it comes to their work culture. The most significant factor behind Japan's 1.3 birthrate is the fact that everybody is too busy working to have romantic relationships and have kids. And the Japanese Government is doing its best to mitigate every other factor except the work culture factor. (I think due to the lobbying power of the companies & the elderly.) This is the primary long-term issue in the minds of Japanese people.

Meaning that the Hadean Era might have ended earlier than we thought and that liquid water oceans formed much earlier as a result. More research is needed to say anything definitive. Edit: Yes. The video states this possibility too. Zircons might be the key to understanding the emergence of life.

  25. The human brain is the most capable organic computer on the planet but it is still millenia behind being able to handle very wide-scale discourse and debate. Our human brains aren't even capable of feasibly understanding that there are 8 billions other human brains that are just as human as us. In the age of hyper-globalization and an ultra-inclusive internet, our human brains are struggling to keep up because evolution is slow process that humanity has no patience for. Our impatient ambition is both our superpower and our kryptonite.

But, while it is true that MAD is what has guaranteed this era of global peace, there is still the chance of unintended launch. Ie: false alarms, technical glitches, over-zealous generals, extremism (Pakistan). There have been many historic close calls from armageddon.

The first main deterrent that would stop artificial intelligence from "violently revolting" is the way humans treat them -- including nuances such as rights, empathy, & perhaps even 'civil' liberties. The second main deterrent is to somehow incorporate ethics into autonomous algorithms -- and (even more abstractly) incorporating empathy as well. Although, ultimately, this would mean designing artificial intelligence to be more human -- which isn't a perfect solution since humans are resoundingly flawed creatures, to say the least. Also, it goes without saying that I acknowledge the irony that humankind, itself, needs to treat each other with more humanity.

  32. So I guess how people digest these objective facts boils down to how much faith they have in humanity. Essentially, faith in whether or not humanity will collectively rise to the occasion and adapt to an evolving human race that has to transmit employment + labor with automation -- particularly when it comes to artificial intelligence. This evolution must be dealt with by 1) not just focusing on the impact on blue-collar and white-collar work but also on professional and creative work as well; 2) addressing solutions for the most impacted people, who are already negatively affected by other facets of a globalized society.

This obligation should apply not just to mundane society, technology developers + consumers, and labor sectors, but also to the halls of power -- like all Superpowers, all Governments, and all militaries. And I admit as a Black person, I would hate to see anything be enslaved/abused; the next 'African' to exploit with impunity. PS: I understand the difference between mortal consciousness and artificial intelligence, but even the most avid supporter of human exceptionalism can admit the commonalities.

Gamma ray bursts move at the speed of light, and it's thought that they might even be able to bend spacetime, potentially finessing light speed. And that should be something a Type 3 Civilization can do.

Growing Block: Expanding beyond the human perspective is a set view of the past (since the Big Bang) with time flowing freely towards an open future. Block Universe: When the Universe ends in a heat death, all uncertainties will have already happened and there will no longer be thermodynamic free energy. The future is closed and the present is stale, with all that's left being the past that already happened. Since the past can't be change and free will cannot be injected into the solid block retroactively (aka retconned in).
