I don't understand why some of those Pakistanis find it so hard to believe Osama was hiding in Pakistan. I mean where else was he suppose to hide out, in Paris? He was the most wanted man on the planet. He was clearly hiding somewhere, so why not Pakistan? His last known location was right next door in Afghanistan. He had plenty of contacts with people in Pakistan that he has known since the war against the Russians. Plus, the Pakistani intelligence agency has secretly supported extremists for years. So hiding in Pakistan would have been the logical location.
Osama would not have lasted that long trying to hideout in any other country. Even most Muslims countries would have turned him over to the US to garner favor with them. If I had been Osama, I would have been hiding out in Pakistan as well. The fact that he was hiding in a compound, in a safe military town, not far from the Pakistani Military Academy was definitely not a coincidence. And to be honest, ,I seriously doubt if the Pakistani government even knew he was there. But there was definitely a small group of Osama loyalists, probably within the Pakistani intelligence agency, who were responsible for hiding Osama in Pakistan.
