  2. Saying that what happened on January 6th was legitimate political discourse  is like saying theAttack on Fort Sumter  which started the Civil War, was just legitimate political discourse. It's like saying a Trump supporter plowing his car into a crowd of people in Charlottesville  was legitimate political discourse.The RNC is patently absurd. Today the Republican party is a seditious institution. The lawlessness we see in the Republican party today can be defined as institutional depravity. It isn’t an occasional failure to uphold norms and laws, but a consistent repudiation of them. It isn’t about dirty money so much as the pursuit and abuse of power—power as an end in itself, justifying almost any means.
