  1. That's like saying the Civil War was just legitimate political discourse. The Republican party is patently absurd. Today the Republican party is a seditious institution. The lawlessness we see in the Republican party today can be defined as institutional depravity. It isn’t an occasional failure to uphold norms and laws, but a consistent repudiation of them. It isn’t about dirty money so much as the pursuit and abuse of power—power as an end in itself, justifying almost any means.

  5.  @chrisbammer8679  Fun Fact: No state can secede from the Union, period. Because there is no provision within the constitution that would allow a state to secede from the Union. The only thing they can do is engage in sedition and treason. And the confederacy tried that once. The late, and VERY conservative Supreme Court Judge, Antonin Scalia answered a letter from a screenwriter asking for tips on a screenplay involving Maine seceding from the union: Scalia: "I am afraid I cannot be of much help with your problem, principally because I cannot imagine that such a question could ever reach the Supreme Court. To begin with, the answer is clear. If there was any constitutional issue resolved by the Civil War, it is that there is no right to secede. (Hence, in the Pledge of Allegiance, "one Nation, indivisible.)"
