If I was all alone, and three strangers pulled up to me brandishing guns, I would immediately assume that my life is in imminent danger--anyone would. They literally tried to detain him at gunpoint. Arbery was undoubtedly terrified. Let this be a lesson, that guns are NOT the answer to every problem. Just think if those three men didn't grab their guns, before hopping in their vehicles to chase Arbery. Arbery would still be alive, they wouldn't be looking at spending the rest of their lives in prison, and we wouldn't be having this conversation. They could have tried to have a conversation with Arbery without those guns. This incident can partially be blamed on the pathological obsession some people have with guns. They believe that a gun is the only answer to every problem. And having those guns with them gave them a false sense of authority. Someone with a gun, will usually behave in a manner totally different from how they would behave if they didn't have one. And this is coming from a gun owner.
