And as you say, yes, one can prepare without conspiracy thinking. Among other things, I'm currently building an aquaponics greenhouse, installing solar power and making sure that my wife and I have enough food for a length of time. Even drought is possible so I have a 1,500 gallon water tank. I am preparing for the most likely events, not aliens, an asteroid-strike-multi-year-winter event, or nuclear end of times. In those events, I'd prefer to be the first to go.
