  1. I have a German friend who told me they would have to polish stone to get a bowl of broth a day. She said they had no shoes, what they had they would cut the front off so there was room for their feet for another year. She is now 83 and as fit as a fiddle. When she turned 50 she decided to start exercising which she went on to teach. We cruise together at times and she gets up early to be at the gym at 5:30 a.m. (and in bed by 10 p.m.).

  3. I am 81 and find that nothing tastes like it used to!!! Chicken tastes like cardboard, except fresh organic chicken (at a price), same as eggs, and even flour for bread isn't the same. Homemade bread used to be so good. I wonder if the wood stoves had something to do with the taste change? Today electric and gas probably don't give us that woody taste.

  4. I love tongue. One can only get it on Jewish delis and at an outrageous price. But it is good.
