I know. At 82 I fell in my own home on August 4 of this year and broke my hip. I am, unfortunately, in Canada where there is NO HEALTH CARE. I waited in the corridor of the ER for two long nights and two days before being operated on. I guess I was operated on as I never saw my doctor. It is now December 17th and to this day I have never seen my doctor.
I was not given my medication, some which I took for ten years prior to Aug 4th. All the "Twilight Zone" hospital had to do was call my pharmacy for my medication list. They didn't do that. Instead they called in second and third parties, just simple drug representatives from BIG PHARMA who gave all of us new medicines, PRESCRIBED VITAMINS.
Yes, they did remove the staples after three weeks and told me that the final dressing could not be removed by anyone but my surgeon. Well. it couldn't wait that any longer and came off from showering in October.. Yes, indeed, someone did operate on me as I have a long ugly looking red scar.
I was never given pain pills.
The Twilight Zone hospital had no heat.
On Vancouver Island, Canada it is normally a nice temperature year round - the Hawaii of Canada. However, this August was cold and I thought I was going to freeze to death at night as we had no heat. The hospital had no heat. This hospital is saving money, $400,000 it needs, for a new hospital about to be built, to open 2028. Until then this Cowichan Valley Hospital in Duncan, BC. has NO HEAT. It is bitter cold.
Besides no heat and no pain pills, I had to get off of Calbrata, a mood medicine. Many patients having to get off of this particular medication have had to go to court and have sued the Brand Company making this anti-depressant because they could not get off it. But my getting off was not voluntary, it was simply recklessness, malpractice as is committed daily in Canadian health system - it is not a health "care" system.
I did fall out of my bed after getting home, as I was alone, and found it difficult to get all the way into the bed. To prevent further injury to my hip, I put all my weight on my right side, consequently, breaking my wrist and dislocating my elbow.
NO, I DID NOT HAVE ANY PAIN MEDICATION. I had over the counter Tylenol.
Knew I could not stand to go back to that awful hospital, so I stretched my arm whereby I relocated my dislocated elbow. The next morning I called the pharmacy for a wrist strap for my broken wrist.
Since August 4th of this year I have been to hell and back.
Nancy Pelosi will have a wonderful hospital stay, fine doctors who she will get to see, no freezing nights, and, I bet she gets some pain medication in addition to whatever else she may be taking.
I am long winded, and I am sorry. What I want to say is, "YES", the decline in my health and being has been tremendous. My body is telling me that it is changing and not for the better.
I still have my mind, my brain, and my awesome God who has never left my side all these 82 years of my life. He may have pushed me now and again, but I deserved it. But, He never left my side and I feel His presence more and more each day. One day sooner, perhaps, than I expected this time last year, I will be with Him. My God I thank you with all my heart for loving me for all these years. You are the Greatest.
