  9. Jewishness is inherited from the mother, not from the father. Most Jews consider you to be Jewish if your mother was Jewish. IF your mother was non-Jewish, then you are too, no matter who your father was. (You can also become Jewish by converting to Judaism, but Jews discourage non-Jews from converting. No fooling: if you tell a Jew that you are thinking about converting to Judaism, he will say "Why? Being a Jew is a pain in the ass.")
