  1. I'm waiting to hear Professor Snyder say something about Ukraine's rich deposits of rare-earth metal ores, lithium, and other strategic minerals. That's the reward we will get if we enable Ukraine to win and survive as a country: preferred-buyer status when the dust settles and the bidding begins. We need these materials for our electronics industry, our synthetic organic synthesis (drugs, plastics, etc.) and for green-technology (batteries, strong permanent magnets for turbines and engines). And we need to break the near-monopoly control which the government of China has over them. (It's no surprise that China's government is trying to help Russia.)
