Choke-holds are unreliable. I know a guy - a former soldier in the US Army - who was stationed in Russia and met his future wife there. They married and were trying to find an apartment in a big city. There was another guy, a native Russian, who wanted the same apartment. He came to their home to negotiate. At one point my friend had to go to the bathroom. While he was relieving himself he heard his wife shout for help; the Russian was attacking her physically. My friend rushed to her side and got the guy in a choke-hold. Well, he was, apparently, a bit too enthusiastic about it and the guy choked to death. You can imagine, a US soldier who killed a Russian, he had no chance in court. He got nine years for the Russian equivalent of involuntary manslaughter.

@genericscout5408 Sure! I'm only saying that choke-holds are not reliable. If you know how to administer one, don't! Future historians will write clever essays comparing this case with the case of Bernard Goetz.
