  1. USA's interest in helping Ukraine survive (and win) is obvious, but no one ever seems to talk about it. We are hoping that the Ukrainians (especially their government) will be grateful to us, and will grant preferred-buyer status when the bidding begins (renews) for access to Ukraine's rich deposits of rare-earth metals, precious metals, lithium, nickel, and neon gas. These are essential for our green-technology; also, electronics, and organic chemistry (pharma), and right now the Chinese government has near-monopoly control of them. So Ukraine is a pocketbook issue and a geostrategic issue and an environmental issue.
