  1. The world has a serious problem with statistical tricks. We need to improve high-school statistics and probability. More kids know the Pythagorean Theorem and Fermat's Last Theorem than know the Central Limit Theorem. More kids know the definition and value of π than of e (Euler's number). When I taught high-school statistics and probability, the rumor was afloat in the school that Calculus was hard and Statistics and Probability was easy, and that the kids who hated math should take Statistics and Probability for an easy pass. I did my best to undeceive my pupils, without much success.
