  1. Not all true basses have dark voices! Some of the lowest bass voices have golden timbre — Like, for instance, Kurt Moll, and Hans Sotin — or grey, like Josef Greindl. And, some of the darkest sounding male voices are not basses at all. Listen to Gustav Neidlinger, who sang baritone parts but had a darker timbre than most low basses.
