@michaeljbadeaux 1. The pipeline deal wouldn't make a difference; it's longer term. 2. No the border wouldn't have been secure. The wall was doomed from the start. Why? Because to build an effective wall, you'd need to eminent domain a lot of border land away from the wealthy guys who own it, and in USA, an owner who also has money can stop eminent domain: he just sues to prevent it, and if he loses, he appeals, and keeps appealing until the president who is trying to eminent domain it loses an election or hits his term-limit. 3. Are you kidding? When the Fed was thinking of raising interest rates, Trump threatened them. Trump did everything he could to keep the money easy, for short-term gain, and that is largely how we got where we are. 4. Putin doesn't fear Trump. Putin owns a big piece of Trump. Putin might have delayed invading because he hoped Trump would weaken NATO. And if Trump were still in office, he would. 5. No, China wouldn't "have to" make good on any deal with Trump. What's Trump gonna do if they don't?

@opinionated4219 Look up the "post hoc ergo propter hoc" fallacy." Trump didn't jump-start the economy; he came into office just when new technology was jump-starting the economy. Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan had similar good luck. (The new technology which made the economy roar in the 1980s was computers cheap enough for ordinary businesses to buy. The new technology which made the economy roar in the 1990s was internet for everyone, and the new technology which benefited Trump was fracking, which grew from nearly-nothing in 2007 to the big beautiful giving-tree supplying half of our energy in 2016, BEFORE Trump took office. It'll come back again, too, once the investors get over the horrible beating they took in 2020 when demand dropped into the toilet and the price of oil was far below the cost of fracking it out of the shale and a lot of fracking-well investors lost their shirts.)

@opinionated4219 That depends on what the single commodity is. Digital electronics is not a single commodity; it is now a component in production of almost all commodities. As I said, it didn't just create a new economic sector; it multiplied the productivity of all economic sectors. And the problem isn't that fracking is too expensive; the problem is that the price of oil was too low and the investors got stung. Now that the price of oil is so high, the investors are coming back.

@henriyoung3895 Maybe not yet. If Trump had won in 2020, Putin might have waited, hoping that Trump would weaken NATO. But Putin would have invaded Ukraine sooner or later. Just read the essay he published about Russia and Ukraine in history.
