One of the main reasons cops are leaving, especially in bad neighborhoods, is, there are so many small guns on the streets that any bystander or victim at any crime scene has to be assumed to be carrying, and possibly dangerous. This is why we get cops shooting so many kids who turn out to be carrying phones or toys: the cop has to assume that anyone - absolutely anyone, from a six-year-old child to a 90-year-old guy in a wheelchair, is armed and dangerous. This is part of the price we pay for our right to keep and bear arms: frightened, angry, hair-trigger cops.

  2.  @shade9272  No they're not. The guidelines are just that - guidelines, not requirements. The judges don't have to follow them. Neither do the DAs. There's a problem with your idea, which you have not mentioned. Don't feel bad, no one ever mention$ the problem with putting people in pri$on$ for long $entence$ in the$e di$cussion$ of crime.
