  7. The argument against gain-of-function research seems goofy to me. If more deadly viruses can be made, we need to know as much about it as we can. And Fauci said that he supports further investigation into the question whether the virus is a natural mutant or an escaped bug from a lab. What more can he say? We don't know the answer to that question yet. Oh dear, Rand Paul just revealed himself as a hack, performing for hacks. No real biologist would accuse a scientist of "fooling with mother nature," as if that were a bad thing to do. Fooling with mother nature is what biological scientists do; it's their job. The idea is to fool mother nature into doing good things for us, and, to fool her into revealing the tricks she likes to play on us, so that we can figure out how to prepare for them, or prevent them, or fix some of the damage after she plays them.

  9. The government is quietly requiring gun manufacturers to include self-deactivating devices in guns. The government can deactivate any gun by sending a signal from a satellite. You will think you can use your gun to defend against tyranny, but when you pull the trigger your weapon will not fire, or, it will blow up in your face.
