Let's be fair to Paul Erlich. He did not predict that we would suffer mass famine, period. He predicted that ONE OF THREE things would happen: EITHER we would stop breeding so quickly and so much, OR that we would invent ways to produce more food on less land faster, OR that we would suffer mass famine. Only ONE of these THREE options would have to be realized in order for him to have been right. Well, we have learned how to produce much more food per acre of arable land, AND we seem to be breeding less. So he's really double-right.
