  2.  @PenneySounds  It's one of the ways it can work. Look at what happens, for instance, with government aid to students. The government (and/or voters) say: "Tuition is too expensive; the kids are graduating with huge debt. Let's make the government give students some money to pay their tuition fees!" And the government votes to give x dollars to each student. Then the university says "Now each student is getting x dollars from the government, so we can charge x dollars more for tuition!" And the money ends up not helping the students at all - it all goes to pay for price-increases.

  3.  @PenneySounds  That would cause inflation. The basic income would soon become worthless.
