My generation voted first in 1976 or 1980 and we still, to this day, associate the Democratic Party with incompetence and helplessness we felt during Carter’s presidency. That’s why Bill Clinton had to work so hard to show that he was a different kind of Democrat in order to win in 1992. The kids will be voting against Trump and the intruding right wing for half a century.
