  1. I think the consensus is that the Scout as originally envisioned by Col Cooper is obsolescent. Nowadays, a light AR10 with LVPO fills the bill. As I first understood the rifle, it was to be a general purpose survival/utility rifle, in a caliber that could reliably bring down big game. My visualization was a sporterized milsurp like a Kar98 in .308, with the forward-mounted sight enabling the use of stripper clips.
