Thank you for a very thought-provoking historical episode! I have lived my whole life in the South; I remember segregation from my early childhood. Thankfully, I was not infected with the bigotry of the time, and always imagined myself going north had I been around during the Civil War. Still, my image of John Brown was rather negative, a violent nutcase who didn't help the abolitionist cause.

@doncarlodivargas5497 As I grew up through the 1960s civil rights revolution, it seemed to me that Southerners actually came to terms better than the north. Yes, there was an initial rash of private schools, but over time, the prejudice has waned. There was also very little violence through the '60s, compared with race riots that occurred in other parts of the country. My perception is that the recent unrest has had political motivation.

The primer system sounds like the cap gun toys we had as kids! How were primers reloaded?

@doncarlodivargas5497 😞True. I had hoped that the sitcoms of the '70s would have ridiculed racism to an unmourned grave. I was sadly naive.
