Ah, no. The Bazooka and Panzerfaust were contemporaries, but the American weapon was fielded first. The RPG is derived from the Panzerfaust.

These guys are kidding. There's a slew of bureaucratic hoops to jump through, under the National Firearms Act of 1934. That's what Ian meant when he said it was 'transferable'.

I once assumed the .50 was developed as an AT round, but it turns out it was more for AA use.

Good points, sir. I was striving for brevity in my comment. With the Panzershrek, the Germans arguably moved ahead of the US weapon, by finding a way to make the warhead much larger and more effective. The tradeoff was indeed range, but the Soviets ran with it in their RPG series.
