Yep. I used the military designation since the video has a military context. Actually, though, they are not exactly identical. There are some small differences that make firing .308 in a 7.62x51 chamber a bit iffy. ---- wingracer16; the slipperiness of firearms nomenclature can be a bit maddening, eh? For all practical purposes that flange is a rim; with a rebated cartridge, it is called a rim! Yep, the 7.62x51 was NATO standard. I was wondering how widespread the 7.62x51 M1919 was in western service.. ---- Llywarch Jones: The 7.62x39 was standard ammunition for Communist forces.
