  2. The first generation semi-auto rifles still showed a lot of influence from their bolt-action predecessors. By cutting off the gas port, I can run my M1A as a straight-pull bolt gun. RE: M5 weight...'history rhymes'...It will be interesting to see how they jive that with the 'lighten the soldier's load' mantra.
