I am from Gibraltar, living in Australia and I can guarantee you UK can never just hand Gib over because there is a treaty/Law that says, UNLESS the Gibraltarians want to be Spanish, which I can categorially say, it can never be given back. It was given to UK by the then king of Spain in perpetuity, not leased or anything else.
