Don't be silly. Describing two different modes of production does not make a person evil. One mode of production is advantageous to the capitalist owners. The other is advantageous to the workers. Pretty simple.

Well if you like your job, then that's fine. The argument is really simple. When you work as an employee, you only get paid a portion of the wealth that your labour produces. When you work at a socially owned company, then you do get all of them well that your labour produces. That's why there are socially owned workplaces in the United States where assembly line workers make $70,000 a year. Those people would never be able to make that much money at a capitalist company.

But that doesn't negate the fact that the vast majority of people don't make enough money to even support a family on a single income. @BKHockeyTalk , most people don't support the dismantling of capitalism because they're ignorant and uneducated. Why would anyone other than a parasite support capitalism? Doesn't make any sense. If you're a worker, if you believe in actually working for a living, then supporting capitalism would be tantamount to a black person supporting Antebellum South chattel slavery. People should actually have to work for a living. Living off of other people's labour, well that's just immoral and parasitical. and it create an imbalance between supply and demand. One of the central goals of Economics is to achieve equilibrium. But if production output increases at a faster rate than income, then where are workers going to get the money to buy what they're producing? that's why interest rates are so low. Any erosion in purchasing power has to be offset with debt. that keeps the system running for a while, but when consumption finally does slow, and people get laid off, then you're looking at an economic downturn

The point is, do you want to keep all the money that your labour produces or do you want lose years of your life making money for someone else. @WhataDubHead , well the problem is a lot of people are not in the position to start a worker Cooperative or their own business. For the vast majority of people they have no choice but to sell their labour. That's why traditionally it was considered wage slavery. Even the Republican Party considered wage slavery. Sure, you can choose who you sell your labour to. but that person has power over you. They can tell you when and how long you get to go to the washroom if they want to. so it's understandable that some workers would prefer to get together and form their own cooperative so that they can own the product of their labour and get all of the money their labour produces. @mattc7939 , yes, there are many types of socialism. it can be very confusing. Right now there's not a lot of alternatives for workers. They have to compete with one another for jobs at capitalist companies. if we create more alternatives, such as wsdes, then we can turn competition around. we can make companies compete for workers. I think increasing the number of worker cooperatives would be a good idea because they keep wealth in control with the workers and communities. there's too much potential for exploitation and Corruption when communities and workers are in extreme states of dependency. If we can keep most of the wealth with the workers in the first place, then we can have trickle up economics rather than trickle down. Most billionaires have more money than they could possibly spend or invest. One of the reasons they're pushing for privatization. But workers, on the other hand, they tend to spend most of the money they earn

here you are making an assumption while telling people not to make assumptions. Yes, Richard Wolff is well aware that running a business is costly. It doesn't matter whether the business is socially owned or privately owned, everyone has to pay their electric bills. Everyone has to pay for supplies. Everyone has to put up the initial cost to start a business.

Of course a product is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it. everyone knows that. even young children know that. the point is, that when you work at a Cooperative you actually own the product of your labour and you get to keep all of the well that your labour produces. That's why there are assembly line workers in the United States making $70,000 a year that socially owned companies where that isn't a possibility at a capitals company. that's the point.

But that's not the point. Boost employees only get a small fraction of what their labour is actually worth. And that's because the competition among workers has driven the value of Labor down. However, at a socially own company, workers get to keep all of the money that their labour produces. That's why there are some socially owned companies where assembly line workers are making $70,000 a year. At a capital company they be lucky if they get slightly more than minimum wage.
