  1. No, he had to do something. There's no way he could have just sat around and not campaigned. His critics would have said he was cognitively impaired, or lazy, or tired, etc. and many people would have believed it, but seeing him in action, doing interviews, flying around the entire country for rallies, etc., it definitely helped.
